Another Addiction
WARNING: You are about to see a very ugly drawing! LOL!
Before anything else. Big thanks to Ate Dhadha, Sheryl, Ayie, and Aisha for helping me book a ticket for a very special trip. I was having problem with my Visa/Eon account so I can’t use it in buying etickets. Thank you so much for your help pretty girls.
Now moving on.. What’s with the title? Well, I love playing with colors. Especially with oil pastel’s colors. Easy to blend, easy to use. But I don’t really use oil pastels on portraits. I usually do it with ordinary pencils or charcoal pencils. So this is something new and somehow totally challenging. The portrait doesn’t really look so good. Please bare with me. It’s my first time to make a portrait using oil pastels. I made this for 2 hours only, so this isn’t really such a materpiece.
Just click the image to view large size.
This is a portrait of a girl. She doesn’t have a name yet. You can name her if you want. Haha. It’s been more that 5 months since I last used oil pastel, my hands are getting too heavy already. Shocks, I’m having a hard time controlling it. Most artist use cotton balls or brush in order for the pastel to have flawless and smooth look. But I’m not really comfy using those tools, I use my fingers instead. Haha.

Notice she has big eyes? LOL! I like making girls with big eyes.
I find it cute! My friend said she looks like aswang!
Well, i think she does. God I’m not good.
I want to achieve something like cartoonish not too realistic effect, but I think I wasn’t able to get it done that way. Tsk! My sketchpad is almost full. My pastels are all broken. Gotta buy new one!
Or who has beautiful hearts in there, donations are very much welcome! Cattleya sketchpads and Pentel oil pastels.
Haha Thanks in advance! And yeah, I think I wont get my sidebar done before Friday. I got so many things to do. Probably next week, I’ll add more contents in my sidebar that looks so lifeless!
Do you have any name suggestion for my drawing?
Have you tried making oil pastel portrait?

I’ve never tried an oil pastel portrait before but I know some friends who are really good artists. That doesn’t look like anything near an aswang. A name for it? Hmm.. Ariel? Heh. Sorry for the uncreative name I thought of :p I just remembered that Ariel of the Little Mermaid had big eyes too!

I have tried using oil pastels in creating posters before. I agree that it’s so difficult to use.
I mean, the texture is so hard to control. And I also use my finger to achieve the smoothness of it.
Well, your artwork looks good naman eh. I haven’t tried creating a portrait before using pastels kasi nga mahirap. XD If you aren’t satisfied, you could practice some more pa.
You can do it, Sis.

I like it, it’s cute! I think the big eyes made her look.. expressive? Haha :)
I’m actually a bit jealous; I want to be a good artist, especially in drawing because I want to be an animator, but the only thing I can do is make charcoal drawings. Heh.
Keep safe, and continue doing what you love.
